Cost: The Scheduled Flights tab shows the Cost per leg. This is the total cost for the plane to fly from Point A to Point B.

It also shows the Cost Per Seat. This is the current cost for each passenger - the cost of each leg divided by the passengers. If there are two passengers the costs are split evenly. If three passengers on a leg the cost is split three ways.

Finally it shows the Minimum Cost per Seat. This is the cost for a seat if ALL the seats on a flight are filled.

Below is an example of how to calculate costs.

Costs shown are an ESTIMATE and will vary slightly with actual miles flown on a leg.

Departure and Flight Times: All departure times listed are LOCAL times.  Actual flight time on a leg may vary based on weather and flight conditions.

Late Arrival: If you are late for a flight that starts in your home town, the pilot has the option to depart without you. If you are going to be late you are responsible to contact the pilot.  Whether or not the plane can be delayed depends on the schedules of other passengers.

The State Plane system will NOT strand travelers out of town even if they are late for a flight. However, you should contact the pilot so they can inform fellow passengers.

Cancellation: Agencies often make travel plans based on the cost of a shared flight. A cancellation pushes additional costs onto the other agencies represented on a flight. Generally, a cancellation should be made at least 24 hours before a flight. This will give other agencies a chance to re-schedule or choose other travel plans.

Obviously, unforeseen circumstances arise that cause last minute changes. However, just as cancelling a commercial flight might result in the loss of the ticket price, cancelling a flight without sufficient notice may incur costs.



Sample Cost Calculation:

For Pierre to Brookings the cost of the leg is $724.00.

With three passengers flying the cost for each passenger is $241.33.

If a fourth passenger is added then the cost for EACH drops to $181.00.

If all seven seats are filled than the cost for each passenger is only $103.43.
