To begin utilizing the Internet self-issuing permit process, please call Janet with the South Dakota Highway Patrol, at 605-773-4578. If you have obtained a permit through South Dakota's automated permit process after July 2003, a USER ID and PASSWORD will be assigned to you and your account will be activated. An update of your insurance information may be requested. No additional information will be necessary. If you have not requested a permit from South Dakota since July 2003, a small amount of information will be required to establish your account. Please have the following information available at the time of your call:
