CareerWise
The CareerWise publication (2006)contains 48 pages of career exploration information including articles on how and where to begin looking for that new job, completing a job application, developing a resume that will get noticed (including completing an electronic resume), how to ask people to be a reference, interviewing techniques, when and how to accept a job and how to keep a job.
e-South Dakota Labor Bulletin
The South Dakota Labor Bulletin, an electronic publication, contains feature articles about the South Dakota economy and an analysis of current labor market conditions. Various tables show such data as labor supply, labor force, nonfarm worker levels by industry and measures of the activities of the South Dakota Department of Labor Unemployment Insurance Division and Career Centers. Selected national economic indicators such as the Consumer Price Index (CPI) are also tabled. This publication is free and used by businesses and individuals to assess economic conditions in the state and determine prospective business locations or places to live and work. How Do Your Employee Benefits Measure Up?
The South Dakota Employee Benefits pamphlet highlights data on the employee benefits available to South Dakota workers. Narrative analysis, tables and graphs provide information on paid leave, retirement, insurance and other fringe benefit policies that employers have established for their workers. There is no charge for this publication.
Pocket Resume
The Pocket Resume is a small tri-fold pamphlet that provides space for all the personal and career-related information a person needs when completing a job application or going on a job interview. A completed Pocket Resume will contain essentially all of the information in a good resume-only in miniature form that can be easily folded and carried in a pocket for handy reference at a job site. South Dakota Career Peeks (grades K-2) Maximum order-5 per school
The "South Dakota Career Peeks" (2004) contains classroom activities for career awareness at the kindergarten through second grade level. For each career featured, there is a simple one-paragraph description of what workers do on the job and an activity that integrates basic academics. For example, while learning about cashiers, students will do an activity counting change. While learning about drafters, they will look for basic shapes like triangles and squares in pictures. South Dakota Hot Careers flyer
This two-sided flyer with a fireworks design features high demand and high wage occupations in South Dakota. Occupations for three educational categories are included, those involving on-the-job training, those requiring some postsecondary education (but less than a bachelor's degree) and those for which a bachelor's degree is recommended. One side features those careers for which workers are projected to be in greatest demand through 2016. The other side features those careers which are currently the highest paying.
