||Performs basic patient care services and supports the activities of the Acute Dialysis unit. Acute Dialysis Technicians are multi-skilled to provide expanded bedside services under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. Dialysis Technicians have knowledge of and utilize appropriate age-related patient care protocols relating to the physical and psychological needs of all patient age groups. Under the direction of the RN, the Acute Dialysis Technician will collect specific data including vital signs, height and weight, and lab specimens to be sent for analysis. The ADT assists with the hospital order entry system, completes daily stocking of patient rooms, and enters patient charge data into the hospital computer system. The ADT will assist in scheduling patient appointments, will answer phones, and relay messages to the registered nurse as appropriate. The ADT will collect and input performance improvement data as directed by the Clinical Manager or CCC. The ADT will be responsible for the cleaning and culturing of machines and ROs, performing water room checks, calibration of machines, and assisting RNs with completion of daily checklist. The ADT will assist with transportation of patients and machines to and from the Acute unit.|
Must be able to work with growth and development needs of unique client populations. Knowledge of medical terminology and medical equipment/supplies preferred. Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
When students are providing patient care, treatment, and/or services as a part of their training, any/all employees may be asked to supervise the students.
High school diploma or equivalent desired. Experience as a nursing assistant, phlebotomist or unit secretary desirable.
Certification from vocational program for nursing assistant or phlebotomy desirable.
Scheduled work hours may vary. May be exposed to communicable disease. Subject to multiple sensory and environmental stressors. Must maintain the strictest of patient confidentiality at all times.
